Indicative of the vibrant market situation, Martin Automatic enthused at the number and quality of visitors who came to the company's booth in Chicago. The expo provided a first opportunity to show US converters a new machine for self-wound laminate film applications. Designed to reduce waste and increase productivity, the MLSW splicer offers non-stop roll changes for self-wound overlaminate films.
Speaking for Martin, VP Sales & Marketing Gavin Rittmeyer said: "We were pleased with the general level of interest on the booth, with many compliments about the compact design of the MLSW, which allows it to be installed above any narrow web press."
A key benefit of the new machine is that the splices, which need no tape or adhesive, are prepared at a safe and convenient height with the splice unit extended in front of the press, are prepared at a safe and convenient height with the splice unit extended in front of the press. The MLSW is the newest member of Martin's MLS series of splicers, which includes models for inline adhesive-applied film lamination and foil stamping.
The Martin MBS(F) butt splicer and LRD non-stop rewinder also on the booth in Chicago were demonstrating their versatile substrate capability, which ranges from PS label stock to lightweight films used for flexible packaging. The LRD showed how finished rolls can be unloaded automatically, without the need for any other equipment. "The MBS(F)/LRD is a very popular combination in the label market - in fact the machines on the booth were shipped direct from the expo to a leading international label converter straight after the show," he concluded.
